The Ticknor Society
2021-26 Events
We've been invited back to the Brattle Book Shop in Boston for a morning of socializing and shopping by Zac Marconi, manager of the 3rd floor rare book room and Ticknor Society Membership Chair, and his helpful and friendly staff. Come for coffee and donuts, three floors of books for browsing, plus a 20% discount for Ticknor Society members.
The Brattle Book Shop is Boston's oldest and most iconic purveyor of used books and magazines. We hope to see you there.
We'll visit the University of Southern Maine's Glickman Family Library.
Imaginary Books: Lost, Unfinished and Fictive Works is a cross between a book exhibition and a conceptual art installation consisting of more than 100 items from Reid Byers's collection. These imaginary books are examples of fictional works that only exist in fiction, or books that were planned and left unfinished or for which there is no known surviving copy. These have all found their 3-D form with the help of printers, bookbinders, artists, and calligraphers. Examples include Shakespeare's Love's Labor's Won, the lost sequel to Love's Labor's Lost, and Hemingway's first novel which was in his wife's valise, stolen at the Gare de Lyon in 1922.
Please email us at ticknor@gmail.com to reserve your place and note if you are interested in car pooling.
