Join Peter X. Accardo (Scholarly and Public Programs Librarian), John Overholt (Curator of the Donald and Mary Hyde Collection of Dr. Samuel Johnson and of Early Books and Manuscripts), and Sara Powell (Assistant Curator of Early Books and Manuscripts) for a guided tour of “Marks in Books,” the exhibition they curated that is currently on view in the Edison and Newman Room at Houghton Library, Harvard University. The exhibit reprises the 1984 show of the same name, which featured “examples of cast-off copy, palimpsest, proofreaders’ marks, text cut-outs, and alterations to texts at various points in the printing process.” Items from the original exhibit, plus new acquisitions, will be included, to “underline the value of close looking that reveals books as evidence and repositories of human labor, study, and curiosity.”

This event is limited to 25 people, and RSVPs are required via the website. We look forward to seeing you there!
